YouTube CMS · UK
Many UK creators never need a CMS partner. The ones who do tend to be music labels, channels with a lot of reuploads to chase, or creators whose audience sits partly in South Asia. For them, the choice of partner affects rights, payments and paperwork.
Here is what is different in the UK: payouts arrive in dollars, the US tax form has a treaty section to fill in, HMRC wants the income on your return, and Making Tax Digital now applies to higher earners.
Payouts
YouTube revenue is settled in US dollars. We pay monthly in USD, so your bank or payment provider converts it to pound sterling (GBP). Here is what that means in practice.
We pay in USD. A standard UK current account will convert it to pounds on arrival at the bank's rate, which usually includes a margin over the market rate. Some UK banks and payment apps offer USD accounts, so you can hold dollars and convert when the rate suits you.
You can take payouts by international bank or wire transfer, PayPal or Payoneer. Multi-currency accounts such as Wise or Payoneer are another option. We don't recommend one; compare the total cost on a typical month's payout.
Keep each monthly statement with the matching bank entry. The UK tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April, so file by tax year, not calendar year.
Tax & paperwork
General orientation only, not tax advice. Rules change, so confirm your position with a qualified advisor in the UK.
YouTube requires creators outside the US to submit tax info in AdSense for YouTube. UK individuals use Form W-8BEN. The UK has an income tax treaty with the US, so you can claim treaty benefits on the form. Withholding then applies only to earnings from US viewers, at the treaty rate. Skip the form and Google may withhold 24% of your worldwide earnings.
YouTube pays the partner, the partner pays you. Your tax info still sits in your own AdSense for YouTube account, any US withholding comes out of the payment to the partner for your channel, and Google sends forms such as the 1042-S to you directly.
The trading allowance covers up to £1,000 of gross trading income a year. Above that, you must register for Self Assessment by 5 October after the end of the tax year. If US tax was withheld, HMRC's helpsheet HS263 explains Foreign Tax Credit Relief.
Since 6 April 2026, sole traders with qualifying income over £50,000 must keep digital records and send quarterly updates. The threshold drops to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. Check with an accountant whether it applies to you.
Creators
UK viewers attract strong advertiser demand, and many UK channels also pull in US viewers because they share a language. British Asian music and faith channels often have a split audience across the UK, India and Pakistan, and earnings per view vary with that split. A good partner shows you where your views come from before quoting.
Checklist
Whoever you choose, get these answered in writing before you accept a linking invite. Our guide to choosing a partner goes deeper.
How we work
We run our own YouTube CMS. You keep 100% ownership of your channel, your content and your Google account. We quote a revenue share for each channel after reviewing it. The number depends on your niche, audience geography, rights and volume, so a single published figure would be wrong for most channels.
Send your channel link. We review it within 24–48 hours. If it fits, we quote a revenue share for your channel in writing.
Linking happens through an invitation from our Content Manager that you accept in your own Google account. No passwords change hands.
Payouts are monthly in USD by international bank or wire transfer, PayPal or Payoneer, with a statement per channel.
We work Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00 IST. That is about 5:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. UK time in summer and 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in winter. Morning messages usually get a same-day reply.
No, we pay in USD. Your bank or payment account converts it to pounds, or you can hold dollars in a USD account and convert later.
If you submit a valid W-8BEN in AdSense for YouTube and claim the UK–US treaty, only earnings from US viewers are withheld, at the treaty rate. Check the rate AdSense shows after you submit. Without tax info, Google may withhold 24% of your worldwide earnings.
Usually, yes. The trading allowance covers up to £1,000 of gross trading income. Above that, you must register for Self Assessment by 5 October after the end of the tax year. An accountant can confirm how your income should be reported.
It affects sole traders above the income threshold: £50,000 from 6 April 2026, £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. If your self-employment income crosses it, you need compatible software and quarterly updates.
Foreign Tax Credit Relief may apply. HMRC's helpsheet HS263 explains how it works. Ask your accountant before you claim.
